One of the easiest ways to evaluate a student’s progress, excellence, and performance in the classroom is through test scores. Although test scores are not the only thing that is important and crucial to a student’s success, they can be a great way to track progress and achievements. Thankfully, many studies have revealed the correlation between reading and successful test scores.

Academic performance tends to increase as the school-children’s reading habits become stronger. Through many studies, it can be concluded that significant test score improvements can be attributed to consistent reading.

The increase of academic performance is not limited to language arts, but it also extends into math and science, creating improvement in all areas. This is because reading not only content knowledge, but it develops understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that are so vital to existence, but can hardly be acquired elsewhere.
